SETTLE Amateur Operatic Society members are really getting into the swing of things with their latest production, Guys and Dolls.
Rehearsals are well under way with a talented cast of "old hands" and newcomers.
Set in New York in the 1940s, the show tells the story of gambler Nathan Detroit (Steven Lawson), who, needing $1,000 to host a big dice game, bets Sky Masterson (Will Palmer) that he cannot get virtuous Sarah Brown (Molly Summersgill-Smith), a member of the ‘Save a Soul’ Mission, out on a date.
Despite some resistance, Sky negotiates a date with her in exchange for bringing people into her mission. Meanwhile, Nathan's long-time fiancée, Adelaide (Claire Palmer), wants him to marry her.
This year's producer Pat Harding and musical director Pam Whitehead are working hard to bring out the brilliant mix of humour, intrigue and romance in the musical, which will be staged at Settle's Victoria Hall in the week beginning October 27.
Bookings can be made by telephone on 01729 825718, online at settlevictoriahall.org.uk or by calling in at the box office.
