SEVENTEEN Girl Guides took to the water at the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club at Grimwith Reservoir on Saturday to learn the basics of sailing Laser Picos and windsurfers.
Most had never experienced windsurfing or sailing dinghies before and yet within a couple of hours they were making great progress under the excellent tuition of the instructors.
Helen Cressey, outdoor activities advisor for the Girl Guides in North Yorkshire West, said she hoped this could become a regular event on the Guiding calendar.
