POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision near Horton in Ribblesdale last night.

The motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man from York, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another motorcyclist, also aged 48 and from York, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Airedale Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The two men were riding along the B6479 between Ribblehead and Horton in Ribblesdale at around 5.35pm when they came off their bikes on a left hand bend.

The road was closed until just before midnight to allow police to examine the scene.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the two motorcycles – a black KTM and a red and white Husqvarna – travelling along the B6479 prior to the collision to contact them with information.
