A CELEBRATION of all things connected with wool, which was a huge success on its debut in Skipton last year, is to grace the town again.

The two day event at Skipton Auction Mart on Saturday and Sunday will celebrate the wealth of talent and creativity within the wool community and encourage the sharing of yarn based skills and ideas.

Visitors will be able to see knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, dyeing and felting skills.

Last year's event saw about 6,500 visitors flocking to the Mart and was declared an "outstanding success" by the organisers.

Spokeswoman Carole Rennison said: "It was commended for its friendliness and inspirational nature. It was a runaway success for both exhibitors and visitors alike."

She added: "Yarndale brings together over 180 exhibitors representing the UK’s most talented artisan makers, designers, yarn producers and independent yarn retailers.

"Every aspect of the yarn journey will be represented, from the woolly animals themselves, through the various stages of production to the beautiful finished products."

Following the huge success of the crochet bunting which wowed visitors last year, Yarndale will feature another impressive display of colourful crochet, co-ordinated by the author of the popular crochet blog Attic24.

And Sheila Metcalfe has created Textile Botanical - inspired by the amazing variety of colours and forms of the natural world.

In addition, Oxfam will provide a "bag" creche and Skipton Rotary and SCAD have teamed up to provide a fully accessible park and ride service from Skipton Building Society car park.
