A new start-up business has been launched at the icentre following the transformation with a £45,000 Big Lottery grant of the former Ingleton Middle School.

Kidz Day Nursery was officially launched on Saturday, September 6, catering for children from three months to eleven year-olds. The ribbon was cut by former head teacher, Mary Parker.

The owner Julie Whitbread said: "Our aim is to provide a homely atmosphere whilst providing a happy safe warm stimulating environment for children to play and learn and develop freely."

Since its launch the icentre has attracted a number of businesses and has been used by local organisations such as Ingleton in Bloom who grew flowers in the old greenhouse to grow flowers which were displayed around the village.

Rosemary Hartley, who spearheaded the development of the centre said a number of partnerships were being explored and developed with such organisations as Age UK North Craven, Craven Community and Volunteer Services, Ingleton Parish Council,

Craven District Council and Patch Work Project Patch work

Objectives for September to December 2014 included looking into setting up a sustainable heating source and helping develop and small and start up businesses to develop in the centre..

They planned to work with Craven Community and Volunteer services to complete a bid for Reaching Communities to develop the health, social and welfare facilities at the icentre.

"There is a real sense of purpose to the continuing success and development of the icentre which has already created jobs and new start up opportunities.

"But there is also a need for more understanding of what the i centre is trying to achieve and to address this we are updating our website," she said.

They were also looking for more volunteers to help fill the management, fund raising and project roles.
