POLICE are appealing for information after a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash on the A59 near Blubberhouses.

It occurred on Kex Gill Road last Wednesday and involved a yellow Suzuki motorcycle, which was heading from Bolton Abbey towards Harrogate.

The rider, a 67-year-old Knaresborough man, ended up down an embankment where he couldn't be reached easily.

Members of the Grassington-based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association were called out, but were turned back en route.

The biker was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where, yesterday, he was said to be in a critical condition.

Traffic Sergeant John Lumbard, of the force’s roads policing group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or saw the motorcycle prior to the incident, I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away as you may have vital information.”

The crash occurred at around 3.45pm and anyone who can help should contact Harrogate police on 101 and ask for Steve James. Alternatively, information can be emailed to Steve.james117@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
