PUPILS from West Craven High Technology College in Barnoldswick are participating in the Lancashire Book of the Year Award.

Now in its 28th year, the Lancashire Book of the Year competition involves year nine students reading and evaluating a selection of fiction titles submitted by publishers and written specifically for 13 to 14 year olds.

The process got under way on September 25 when a selection of books- published between September 1, 2013 and August 31, 2014 - was delivered to West Craven.

The students will read more than 60 books and share their thoughts and reviews with students from Unity College in Burnley before the final decisions are made.

Two students representing West Craven and pupils from 11 other schools will meet at County Hall in Preston for final deliberations before the winner is decided.
