THE 1950S are alive and well on Saturday as Blue Suede Dudes hit the stage.

The Silsden rock ‘n’ roll trio will make their regular appearance at the Hoggs and Heifer pub in Bentham.

The guys came together to play 50s music for long-time Keighley musician Dale Kitson’s 50th birthday.

But Dale, Lee Kitson and Roger Kirby enjoyed performing so much that they stayed together and hit the live circuit.

Way back in 1980, Dale formed The Quick and three years later was playing with leading Keighley band Teenage and the Wildlife.

He then spent several years performing with drummer Steve Riley as Lively Arts.

Meanwhile Roger Kirby was also a familiar figure on the Keighley rock scene, spending the 1980s playing with Single File and Llama Parlour.

The pair teamed up in 1994, first as Talking To Myself then with Blondel. Lee Kitson was busy with Sidewinder for much of the noughties.

Blue Suede Dudes will also play the Woolpack, Esholt, on November 8, and Cross Hills Working Men’s Club on November 29.
