A PARISH council boss has welcomed a £9,500 lottery grant to carry out improvements around a community facility.
The Awards for All Big Lottery cash will pay for landscaping and work on the car park at Steeton Hub.
Coun David Mullen, chairman of Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've been awarded the grant.
"The car park needs to be levelled and surfaced and planting will be carried out around the building.
"Currently the car park is inadequate and these improvements will create better conditions for existing users and increase usage.
"At this stage we don't know when the work will be done but it will need to be within a time framework."
The scheme will also include the creation of a path between the car park and the Hub, and the rebuilding of retaining walls.
Separate funding, from Yorventure and Wren, has also been received to refurbish the playground next to the Hub.
Existing equipment will be replaced.
The Hub, opened early last year by the parish council, provides hall and meeting room space for a wide range of groups and activities.
