Otley Town 1 Robin Hood Athletic 4

OTLEY Town fell to another defeat, but the scoreline masks a second-half fightback that should give some encouragement to manager Dave Morris.

Town were poor in the first period, and conceded two preventable goals that left them facing an uphill struggle. Robin Hood were more assertive and quicker of thought and deed, and fully merited their command of the game.

Scott Cater was isolated and ploughing a lone furrow up front, so manager Morris re-jigged at half-time and pushed Danny Forrest further forward.

The policy paid immediate dividends as Town pushed forward and were soon back in the match through Dan Chadwick’s drive that was deflected past the away goalkeeper.

Now only one goal in arrears, Town were in the ascendancy but just could not find a second, and the wind was knocked from their sails when Robin Hood broke away to score a third despite several opportunities for Town to clear their lines.

A fourth goal added a gloss to the score but Otley kept trying until the final whistle, and the manner of this defeat was less demoralising than those of recent weeks, at least to this correspondent.

This Saturday sees Town back in cup action, away to Old Modernians at Cookridge (1:30pm).
