NORTH Craven singing group Octameron will join forces with Phoenix Strings for a concert at the Richard Whiteley Theatre, Giggleswick School, next Saturday, December 6.

A Festive Fantasia will feature Octameron’s usual varied repertoire, ranging from Mozart through to Les Miserables, as well as some Christmas items, both modern and traditional, as a foretaste of the festive season.

Octameron was formed in 1996 and since then has regularly given concerts in both Yorkshire and Lancashire.

The group has an extensive repertoire, some of it unaccompanied, drawing from much of the classical genre from the 16th to the 20th centuries (and even into the 21st), and in a lighter vein, from the jazz and swing-orientated music of the first half of the 20th century.

Phoenix Strings is a Lancashire-based string orchestra of 40 musicians, which was formed in 2007 by musical director and conductor John Foster, whose distinguished career as a violinist involved him playing for the London Festival Ballet as well as the Bruce Forsyth Show!

The sole aim of the concert will be to entertain and share with the audience a love of music of all kinds.

Tickets cost £10 and are available online and by post from the theatre. In addition they can be obtained in person from Settle Music and Cave & Crag, Settle and via email from knipe.rim@talktalk.net
