FOR the second year, Skipton's Mart Theatre is staging its own in-house pantomime.

It will present the ever-popular Cinderella, with the opening night tomorrow.

The show - performed by professional actors - will be packed full of magic, a bit of cheekiness and a smidge of audience participation.

"It's a fast-paced, high-energy version of Cinderella that will entertain people of all ages," said the Mart's artistic director Andy Lynan.

The show follows last year's debut pantomime, Puss in Boots, which proved very successful.

In the Mart's version of Cinderella, downtrodden Cinders is worked into the ground by her wicked Stepmother, Baroness Bumcheeks, and is at the beck and call of the grotesque and demanding Ugly Sisters Vurruka and Bunion.

But meanwhile, in Skipton Castle, the Prince is on the hunt for a bride and invites every eligible maiden in the kingdom to a fancy dress ball.

Andy said: "There will be laugh-out loud moments with the ugly sisters, plenty of booing for the wicked stepmother and lots and lots of audience interaction with Buttons and Cinders.

"We also have some super costumes and a few special effects that will help transform the cattle ring into a magical theatre space. Tickets are selling fast so please do get them while you can."

Tomorrow's show starts at 7.30pm and there are repeat performances at 1pm and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets can be bought online at themarttheatre.org.uk or by calling the box office on 01756 709666.
