CRAVEN Speakers Club has proved it is more than just all talk.
It hosted speech and evaluation contests for the Yorkshire Dales Area of the National Association of Speakers Clubs.
The event, at Addingham Memorial Hall, attracted entries from all but one of the six groups that make up the Dales district.
The evaluation competition – in which contestants listened to an eight-minute speech and then evaluated it – was won by Craven member Sylvia Walker, from Steeton.
Halifax & Huddersfield member Anne Todd was first in the speech contest.
Both now go forward to an Eastern regional competition near Wetherby in the spring.
"All the Speakers Clubs meet fortnightly and provide an excellent supportive environment for people to learn about more effective speaking," said a spokesman.
"They give the opportunity to practice and gain confidence and welcome absolute beginners!"
