THERE was nothing deep and crisp and even about this year's Nativity in The Park at Sutton-in-Craven.

In fact, it was wet, windy and very squelchy under foot. However, that did not deter the cast or audience of this annual event presented by the local churches in Sutton Park.

The drama began in the car park of the Bay Horse public house with the Angel Gabriel announcing to Mary that she was going to have a baby and they were to give him the name Jesus. After a little haggling with the landlord, a donkey was hired to take Mary safely to Bethlehem.

Inquiries were made for a room at The Kings Head and the Black Bull only to be told by the landlords that there was no room. The procession of followers made their way down the High Street and into the park where the Christmas story was told to the gathered crowd.
