Ripon City 0 Otley Town 2

OTLEY Town got the rub of the green for possibly the first time this season as they secured a Premier Division win away at Ripon City.

Gifted a goal early on following a mix-up between a Ripon defender and their goalkeeper which Scott Cater gleefully capitalised on, Town should have made more of their early superiority but failed to add to their tally.

The home side gradually worked their way back into the game and in fact could count themselves slightly unfortunate not to be level going into half-time.

The second period continued largely in the same vein, with Ripon in the ascendancy and Town playing on the counter-attack. Although Otley defended stoutly with centre-backs Currie and Clarke magnificent in their defiance, Ripon still should have registered but they somehow contrived to miss at least two gilt-edged chances to equalise.

Salt was rubbed into the proverbial wound when the excellent Cater won a late penalty which Sam Jewell converted to make the points safe.

Town are without a match this weekend, and so are next in action on January 10 away at Robin Hood (2pm).
