Otley AC had a quiet week in comparison to recent weeks.

Howard Jeffery was back out again last Sunday and taking part in the Meltham 10K, which is billed as a tough 10K race. Howard reports the route as a challenge due to some seriously long, relatively steep ups and downs.

The winner was David Thompson of Barnsley AC in 37.28 with first lady being Amy Karen Green of Keighley and Craven in 41.57. Howard finished in 78th place in 45.06.

On Friday evening, Otley AC held their annual awards and presentation evening at Korks Wine Bar in Otley. The evening celebrated the great achievements by Otley AC members in 2014.

The first award to be given out was the Otley AC Handicap Championship; the winner of the award was Nicola Lee with Sean O’Halloran coming second and Charlotte Tomlinson coming third.

The second award was for the ‘Runner of the Year’ competition; the winner was Mark Hall with Scott Harrington coming second and Liam Dunne in third, had a great year of running with lots records within the club.

The presidential award was given to Dominic Egan for his services to the club during 2014; Dominic does a lot of work behind the scenes which keeps the club running smoothly.

The performance of the Year was awarded to Scott Harrington for his fantastic victory the Spen 20 race where Scott comfortably won and set a new course record in the process.

During the course of 2014, lots of club records were broken at various distances; these achievements were also recognised and celebrated.
