A MAN who has worked for over 30 years in business management has been chosen to represent the United Kingdom Independence Party in the coming General Election.

Alan Henderson and his wife Kate have lived at Bishop Thornton in the Skipton and Ripon constituency for more than 20 years and have two teenage children who attend Harrogate Grammar School.

He said: "I believe that open door immigration in the UK has seen vast demands placed upon our already stretched local and national resources, at a time when we need to prioritise on key issues, such as health care, support for our elderly and infirm and not least housing.

"Our once-great country, has gone from leading the way domestically and internationally to being a poor follower of the European Union."

Other candidates are: Conservative: Julian Smith; Labour: Malcolm Birks; Liberal Democrat: Jacquie Bell; Green: Andrew Brown.
