GENEROUS visitors to Craven Court in Skipton have, in just one day, raised £2,496.76 to help boost a charity supporting children who have brain tumours and families who have lost youngsters to the condition.

It now means the charity, Harry's Star, launched by Skipton hairdresser Claire Marsden, has topped the £63,000 mark in about three years. Claire lost Harry in November 2010 when he was just ten months old.

Lust before Christmas, people were invited to buy a toy rabbit and a horse which could join a menagerie of toy animals, such as a lamb, sheepdog and pig which have become features of the fundraising effort.

Claire said: "I was really overwhelmed by the day. I owe a huge thank you to Craven Court for donating the space right in the centre of the court.

"But an extra special thank you goes to all my Harry's star supporters old and new as without them none of this would be possible."

This spring Harry's Star will launch its own website, featuring guidance tools for parents and the project will also be recruiting a Harry's Star support worker.

The aim is to provide much needed resources and support for families when their child is diagnosed with a brain tumour.
