EMBSAY with Eastby Parish Council has raised a formal objection to plans to build 14 dwellings on land off Laurel Croft and Main Street.

It is a resubmission of a previously refused application for 21 dwellings.

The council’s latest objection is based on the comments and views of the parish council’s independent planning consultant who is commissioned to provide guidance on major planning matters including applications for new housing developments.

There were concerns that residential development on this site was refused only last year and that the location is not one of the preferred sites identified following a 2013 Community Engagement Event.

The council was also concerned that it could affect to highway safety and the character and appearance of the conservation area.

The plans were discussed at the January meeting of the parish council, which was attended by residents who raised their own concerns and objections.
