Ben Rhydding 0 Cannock 0

BEN Rhydding Ladies restarted their outdoor season with a home match against struggling Cannock.

Rhydding went into the fixture in third place in the table, and felt positive after a successful indoor campaign over the winter months.

Rhydding started well with great energy and positive attacking play. With chances coming the way of the home side, the Cannock keeper managed to keep out efforts from Jo Ellis, Jen Wilson and Rachel Doherty.

The second half was dominated by the home side with numerous chances coming from open play and penalty corners.

Cannock made very little entry into their attacking circle, but when they did, they found Rachelle Le Bourdon in great form at the heart of a solid defence.

Jess Purvis kept creating openings with some fantastic runs, but it was the lack of clinical finishing and wrong decisions in the attacking third that let Rhydding down.

Rhydding were left frustrated with the 0-0 final score, but the point keeps the girls in the top half of the table.

They face a tough test on Saturday when they visit league leaders Wakefield.
