SECOND World War veterans of Skipton's Royal Naval Association who were in the Russian convoys are to receive medals from the Russian people.
The Ushakov medals recognise the bravery of the sailors in both the Merchant and Royal navies who helped to get essential supplies to Russian ports in one of the most dangerous theatres of the war.
They will be presented to Norman Robinson and Alan Brown, both of Skipton, and Calvert Townend, of Keighley, in a special ceremony at Skipton Town Hall on Wednesday, March 25, at 2pm.
Posthumous medals will be accepted by family members of Frederick Diamond, of Long Ashes, Threshfield, and Norman Riches, of Elslack.
Lisa Vokorina, an attaché with the Russian Consulate in London, will present the medals at the ceremony and Skipton mayor Cllr John Dawson will also be in attendance.
