A SENIOR health care support worker at Airedale Hospital has graduated from a prestigious course staged by the NHS Leadership Academy.

Dawn Shaw completed the Mary Seacole leadership programme last month and celebrated her achievement at an event at the Grand Theatre, Leeds, with about 200 other graduates from the course.

"I feel privileged to be part of the NHS and the Mary Seacole programme has given me the leadership skills to help transform health care," she said.

"The skills I have learned will help me to deliver better patient-centred care.

"It has taken me around 12 months to complete the course and I've really enjoyed it, not only for the learning but also meeting other people from different trusts."

She has worked at Airedale Hospital for seven years and had various roles within the theatres department before starting her current job.
