A 25-YEAR-OLD retail manager received a year's driving ban after being stopped on her way home to Barnoldswick just before Christmas.

Chloe Aylott had intended to get a taxi home after a night out with friends in Skipton, but had decided to drive after being upset by a chance meeting with an ex-boyfriend.

She was stopped by police in the early hours of December 21 on the A59 at Broughton because of a faulty light, Skipton Magistrates heard on Friday.

A roadside breath test was positive and she was taken to the police station where, because of a borderline reading, she carried out a urine test. It proved to be 132 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine, the legal limit is 107.

Aylott, who admitted drink-driving and was of previous good character, worked in Leeds and drove daily to Skipton from where she caught the train.

She had driven into Skipton to meet up with friends and had not intended to drive home, but made the "foolish decision" to get into her car after being upset by a meeting with a former partner, the court was told.

The loss of her licence would put her in difficulties, especially if her employers chose to move her from the city centre to the White Rose Centre.

Aylott, of Far East View, was also fined £300 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £30. If she completes a drink drivers rehabilitation course by September 25, her ban will be reduced by a quarter.
