POLICE are investigating two incidents where paint has been smeared on buildings off Newmarket Street, Skipton.

Vandals first struck between Friday, February 20, and Monday, February, 23, when they targeted the walls of buildings in an alleyway between the rear of Carling Jones and Nestegg.

Police said that permanent damage had been caused.

The second incident occurred at the same location between noon and 12.30pm last Tuesday when two men were seen smearing more paint onto the rear wall of the Nestegg building before fleeing.

The men involved have been described as average height. One was well-tanned with medium length brown hair and wearing a navy blue hoodie while the second man had a black hoodie.

A police spokesman said: "We are conducting inquiries and are requesting the public's assistance to help determine the full circumstances.

"In particular, we are appealing for information about the identity of the two men involved and their movements on Tuesday, February 24."
