Robin Hood Athletic 1 Otley Town 1

OTLEY Town secured a valuable Premier Division away point at Robin Hood with a battling display, and it was no less than they deserved.

The first half was an even affair, with both sides struggling to play much good football owing to the strong wind.

Town might have taken the lead when James Evison wriggled free and his cross-shot somehow failed to get a touch from either attacker or defender.

As it was, they fell behind when a curling cross brushed Scott Firth’s head and ended up in the back of the Town net.

So Town began the second period with a deficit to retrieve, and they set about their task manfully.

Slowly they began to peg the home side back, but the breakthrough remained elusive until an inspired double substitution from manager Dave Morris saw Joe Hall finish a fine move with a clipped shot that went in off the upright.

Town might even have won it at the death but Evison just could not force the ball home following a fine run and cross by Scott Cater.

So a final result of a score draw, and a well-deserved point for Otley. Special mention should go to Farrell Hunt who made an impressive debut at left-back.

This Saturday Town visit Boroughbridge with a 2:30pm kick-off.
