PLAYERS from Yorkshire’s Superleague Netball team have helped inspire young people from Craven primary schools at a festival of the sport at Giggleswick School.
Yorkshire Jets stars Tuaine Keenan, Sally Butters and Nikala Smith joined around 50 pupils from Giggleswick, Settle and Gargrave.
The youngsters included a mix of those who received regular netball coaching and some who have never played the sport before.
During the festival, the Jets players ran a coaching session which was enthusiastically received by the children and their PE staff.
Defender Tuaine, mid-court player Sally and shooter Nikki, who were accompanied by Yorkshire Jets franchise manager Jane Moulson, then were invited to stay for a fish and chip lunch and given a tour of the school.
Speaking after the visit, Nikki said: “Sally, Tuaine and I really enjoyed being able to visit Giggleswick and give some coaching to the young people from schools across Craven. They were all really enthusiastic about the opportunity and I hope it helps inspire many of them to keep working hard to improve their skills in the future.”
Sally Ayari, head of girls’ sport at Giggleswick School, added: "It was fantastic to see so many boys and girls enjoying not only the netball tournament, but the superb input from the Yorkshire Jets players and the weather also contributed to a superb day."
