Ilkley Town 2 Pool 2

ILKLEY Town brought an end to Pool's run of 15 successive West Yorkshire League Division One wins in a dramatic finish at Ben Rhydding on Saturday.

Pool looked to hace wrapped up another three points when their leading scorer Tom Fleming fired home from close range in the 88th minute after Alex Wormall had parried a shot.

But Ilkley Town weren't giving up the fight and their young side hit back when Wormall's quick kick upfield was flicked on by Adam Davey. The Pool centre half got into a tangle as the ball found it's way to Adam Fowler, who made no mistake.

Ilkley deserved their share of the spoils after showing character throughout. They made the worst possible start when they fell behind after 45 seconds.

Pool's Max Drake wasn't tracked as he made his run from deep onto a long straight ball through the middle. He drew keeper Wormalll before slotting into the net.

Ilkley played some neat football, but it just lacked a cutting edge. Within 30 minutes Ilkley had to adjust as they lost influential midfielders Danny Bott and then Connor Bransfield due to injury.

Despite the early setbacks, Ilkley were well in the game and with a little more quality in the final third they felt they could get some joy.

The second half was highly competitive with Ilkley starting to play with more quality. Ironically it was a longer ball forward in the 68th minute which led to the equaliser.

Fowler competed well and flicked the ball on for Davey who showed great strength and composure to shrug off his opponent and rifle the ball into the net.

From here the game started to open up. Town were lucky to escape when Harvey Atkinson beat the offside trap and shot against the post. Neil Ebdon also forced a good save from Wormall.

Moments later some good interplay in the midfield saw Connor Greenwood release man of the match Tom Rennolds with a fine pass. Rennolds struck it low across the goalkeeper only to see it rebound off the post. but they fell behind to Fleming's goal before Fowler struck his late point-saver for Town/
