SETTLE College is one of the best in the country for student progress.

It has received national recognition for the value it adds to pupils’ achievements at GCSE.

The accolade comes after the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT) undertook its annual in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England.

Settle College qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award by being in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage two results taken in the last year at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.

The school has been invited to receive its award at a regional celebration ceremony at Dixons Allerton Academy, Bradford, on Monday, May 11.

SSAT chief executive Sue Williamson said: "Settle College should be congratulated for its exceptional achievement. It has proved itself to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for its students.

"There is so much good practice that this school could share and I hope it will join us at the celebration evening for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.

"These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Settle College, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network."

And Settle College principal Michele Costello said: "We are absolutely delighted to be receiving this award. The students’ results are testament to the hard work and dedication of the students themselves, who are very well supported by the staff at Settle College and their families at home.

"Whilst we are always proud of the achievements of all of our students, we are particularly proud when we are recognised for the progress that they make whilst at Settle College."
