CHEQUES totalling £5,000 were given to two air ambulance charities that cover Barnoldswick.
The money given to Yorkshire and North West Air Ambulances has been raised through the town council’s Chair’s Charities fund at events throughout the year and from donations for a commemorative book published by the town council last year.
Councillor Claire Teall, Barnoldswick Town Council chairman, who chose the Air Ambulance charities for her fundraising effort, said: “The money for these life-saving charities has been raised by residents and visitors during our busy events programme in Barnoldswick and also from the sale of Peter Thompson's book.
"We know that the air ambulances need to raise a great deal of money per day to keep the service in the air and hopefully this will help to continue to save lives across our region.”
A further donation to Help For Heroes from the sale of Peter Thompson’s book, which lists those from Barnoldswick who have lost their lives through conflicts over the last century, will be made in due course.
