RESIDENTS in Horton-in-Ribblesdale have launched a campaign to raise £3,000 to buy a defibrillator for the village.

It would be placed on the outside wall of Penyghent Cafe, run by the Bayes family.

Spearheading the campaign are Michael Hale, of Selside Railway Cottages, who is a first responder, and Fiona Durham, who lives Selside. Both work in the health service at Castleberg Hospital, Giggleswick, and know first-hand the importance of the machines.

Donations can be left at Penyghent Cafe and further information can be obtained from Michael on 01729 860478 or Fiona on 01729 860058.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is also trying to recruit more first responders to cover the area.
