CONTROVERSIAL plans to build up to 62 houses on the outskirts of Silsden will go before Bradford councillors today.

An outline application to develop land at Town Head, off Bolton Road on the Addingham side of Silsden, will be discussed by the Regulatory and Appeals committee.

Townspeople and local councillors have previously objected to the proposal on grounds such as access, road safety and pressure on local infrastructure.

The council committee will today only consider the principle of development at the site and matters concerning access.

Issues such as appearance, landscaping, layout and scale will be discussed at a later date when the developers submit a separate application.

Council planning application officers have recommended approval for the outline plans subject to several technical conditions.

They also want the developers to pay £66,191 for local primary school upgrades, £115,589 to improve wildlife habitats, and £90,000 for public transport improvements. One-fifth of the site must be affordable
