RESIDENTS of Montgomery Street, Skipton, are celebrating after long-awaited repairs finally took place.
The road, already in a poor state of repair, deteriorated further during the building of nearby Skipton Children's Centre.
It has now been repaired as part of a £50 million North Yorkshire County Council programme to repair potholes across the county.
County and district councillor Robert Heseltine, said it was a welcome result after long lobbying.
"Even with a serious reduction in public spending, North Yorkshire County Council continues, although at a restricted pace, to maintain and as with Montgomery Street, completely renovate roads.
"This street had been in a poor condition for some time, but had been severely damaged when it was used as an access for constructors' vehicles for the Skipton Children's Centre to be built."
