FOR the seventh year, Settle will stage an open-air Passion Play, telling the story of the last hours of Jesus’ life.

It will take place tomorrow, Good Friday, and various venues around the town.

The inaugural play in 2009 was intended as a one-off, but proved so popular that it has been repeated each year. However, no two productions have been the same.

This year’s performance will begin at 10.30am in St. John’s Methodist Church Hall before moving to the Millennium Gardens for the arrest of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and the Market Place for the trial scene.

The crucifixion scene will be presented in the field on Town Head, opposite the parish church, and this will include reflections by some of those who witnessed the events of that first Good Friday.

Everyone is then invited to the parish church for tea/coffee and hot cross buns.

If weather conditions are poor, scenes two to four will take place in St John’s.
