THE mathematics is simple for Ilkley – win Saturday's home match with Pocklington and they will be crowned North One East Champions.

Last Saturday's dramatic events which saw the Dalesmen edge home 27-22 at Driffield while title rivals Sheffield lost 9-8 at Percy Park, mean they lead the table by three points ahead of the final round of fixtures.

If they can extend their current run of victories to 14 and their two-year unbeaten run to 29 games, they will be playing National League rugby for the first time next season.

Coach Rhys Morgan said: "It is important we don't get ahead of ourselves. We must focus on winning the game, that is all that matters. We have to get our mindset right.

"This has been a long and hard season and we want to finish it in the best possible way. Pocklington won't be wanting to do us any favours and we will have to earn the win."

Morgan, who will have a full strength squad available with the return of experienced centre Alastair Monks and second row Pete Small, said: "This club has come a long way over the last five years. We have won the Yorkshire Shield twice, been to Twickenham in the RFU Intermediate Cup and won Yorkshire.

"Winning promotion to the National League Three North is a massive incentive, but we must like at the game and not the prize. Let's finish off the job we have started.

"The players, not just those in the first team but our second and third sides too, have been magnificent this season. We have also had great support so I want us to deliver for all those people who have played their part in the club's success."
