SKIPTON Building Society will celebrate the 2015 launch of its award-winning community giving scheme Grassroots Giving by holding a “village fete” for employees.

Skipton mayor Coun John Dawson will officially open the fete, which is being held in the cafe area at the society's Bailey headquarters tomorrow.

The area will be transformed with grass carpet, bunting, picnic tables, market stalls and a sweet trolley!

Previous Grassroots Giving winners will be present to show off their work and there will be performances by a group of Barbershop singers.

This is the third year Skipton has run the Grassroots Giving scheme. In previous years, a total of £160,500 has been donated to 321 small community groups across the country, including many in the Craven area.

Roy Prenton, from the Grassroots Giving team, said: “Grassroots Giving is all about helping the small community groups which would not normally gain any financial support. We thought that the idea of holding a village fete was in keeping with the community theme."
