A PRIMARY school that parents hold "in high esteem" has been judged good after a recent visit from Ofsted.

Inspectors visited Glusburn Primary School for two days last month and found it was good in all five categories.

Their report says: "Parents are highly supportive of the school. They hold the school in high esteem.

"A lively and exciting range of activities enthuses pupils and supports their enjoyment of learning. Pupils are polite, well-mannered and behave sensibly in lessons and around school."

There is also praise in the report for the school's early years' provision. It says: "The school’s work in the early years ensures that children are introduced to learning in a happy and friendly environment and so they make good progress in all areas of learning."

It is the same rating the school, which has 334 pupils, was given at its last inspection in 2012.

Headteacher Richard Hunt said: "The school is thrilled with the recent Ofsted inspection judgements of good across all areas.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our children, staff, parents and governors who continue to make our school a great place to learn, a delightful place to work and for establishing our school as a central and well-respected part of the local community."
