Guiseley will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself at Chorley on Saturday.

On both previous occasions that they have reached the Conference North play-off finals they have been beaten by last-gasp goals.

Last season’s 2-1 defeat at Altincham to Greg Wilkinson’s goal in the last-minute of extra-time is still fresh in the memory.

The Cheshire side, managed by former Bradford City defender Lee Sinnott, took a 50th minute lead through Jamie Lawrie which was cancelled out by Danny Forrest’s 70th minute strike.

The game looked to be heading for penalties when Wilkinson scrambled the ball home to break Guiseley’s hearts.

There was similar cruel ending in their first play-off final at Telford in 2011. On that occasion they lost 3-2 to a Phil Trainor goal three minutes into injury time.

Full back Sean Newton fired Telford into a tenth-minute lead but the Lions roared back with a James Walshaw penalty at the end of the first half and took the lead with a 47th-minute goal from Darryn Stamp.

Liam Murray equalised for Telford with 11 minutes to go before Trainor struck.
