VISITORS to Wharfedale’s Kilnsey Park are invited to get close to nature and go wild during the half-term holiday.

From this Saturday to next Sunday, May 31, Kilnsey Park will run a series of activities aimed at showing that the countryside is not just a beautiful place to be, but can be great fun as well.

During Go Wild Week, visitors are invited to climb trees, make a tree spirit out of clay, build a bug hotel and get in touch with their inner adventurer by learning how to light a fire without matches and catching and barbecuing a fish.

Each day there will be a special Go Wild Trail, with items for budding hunter gatherers to collect and prizes to be won.

Jamie Roberts, of Kilnsey Park, said: “Go Wild Week is an ideal chance for children to discover just how much fun they can have outdoors and for adults to leave behind their everyday lives and rekindle those fun childhood memories.”

Kilnsey Park is open daily from 9am to 5pm. For more details, visit kilnseypark.co.uk
