BARNOLDSWICK in Bloom launched its 2015 campaign in style at the Valley Gardens' Spring Fair.

Over 1,000 people attended the fun-packed event which raised money to improve the park in the heart of Barnoldswick.

Hands-on activities for families included planting woolly hanging baskets, community planting in a perennial bed, bike blinging and kite making.

New recruits signed up for the bloom team's civic pride 'Litter Quitter' initiative and were inducted into the Litter Quitter Superhero Hall of Fame.

Bloomers unfurled Barnoldswick's finalist banner for the town's first ever entry into the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom finals.

The afternoon's finale was the Spring Duck Race when 1,000 ducks raced along Butts Beck.

Over 100 people took part in community pride and planting during Barnoldswick in Bloom's action weekend.

Following Saturday’s activities at Valley Gardens, Sunday saw community gardening teams concentrate on two areas.

At the back of the library on Ellis Street, one team removed the scrappy hedging around the parking area.

Meanwhile, Cornmill Place residents turned out to help clear the open space at the entrance to the cul-de-sac in readiness for planting.

Further groups set off on litter picking forays around town.

Next weekend, the bloom team are in charge of waste management and recycling at Visit Barnoldswick's three-day Barlick Bands on the Square event.

Barnoldswick’s judging date for the national finals of Britain in Bloom has been set for Tuesday, August 11.
