A DRINK driver from Horton-in-Ribblesdale has been fined £450 and banned from driving for 15 months.

Luke Summersgill-Smith, 27, who was in breach of a suspended prison sentence at the time, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court after first pleading guilty at Skipton Magistrates' Court.

The Skipton court heard in May that he was over the limit when he crashed his Hyundai Accent on Gisburn Road, Hellifield, on April 2.

At the time, he had been subject to a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, set by Carlisle Crown Court in September, 2013.

He was treated for minor injuries after turning his car over and, following a positive roadside breath test, was taken to the police station where he was given the option of giving a blood test.

He was found to have 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

Summersgill-Smith, of Helwith Bridge, was given an interim driving ban of a year by magistrates.
