ACCESS arrangements for a nine home Salterforth housing development have been rejected.
Members of the West Craven Area Committee unanimously turned down an access-only application for nine houses on land adjacent to Roughs Barn, on Salterforth Lane.
Cllr Ken Hartley, vice chairman of the area committee, said: "The proposed access to the site offered no acceptable standards or visibility splays. It's on a narrow road near a humpback bridge and there were no plans for construction of any kind of pedestrian footway. So it was rejected on the grounds of pedestrian safety and visibility."
He also said concerns were expressed that the effects of site drainage could have a subsequent downstream impact.
"All the water goes into a drainage scheme that ends up on Water Street, Earby," said Cllr Hartley. "Increased run-off could be too much for the system to cope with, as this drainage system is already full."
