CHAMBER choir Pinsuti will return to Hetton Church on Saturday.

And, as it is American Independence Day, it will perform works by American composers, including stirring motets by Aaron Copland, the evocative Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber and Morten Lauridsen's fire songs, Madrigali.

Pinsuti will also sing three pieces from contemporary choral composer Eric Whitacre and will round off the evening with foot-tapping delights from the Great American Songbook such as Blue Moon and Summertime.

Musical director Robert Webb said: “We sang in Hetton Church last July and had a wonderful evening – this time we are singing some of our favourite pieces, together with some new music which is less frequently performed."

The concert starts at 7.30pm and admission on the door is £9 for adults and £7 for concessions.
