FAMILY fun is expected in Gargrave this weekend for the annual duck race and musical open gardens.

A record 30 gardens will be open to the public on Saturday from 11am, with musicians serenading people as they explore normally unseen parts of the village.

Adult and child musicians, playing violins, accordions, pianos, and guitars, and some singing, will be positioned around the village.

And, on Sunday, the duck race and family fun day will take place on the Middle Green, with a host of entertainment and refreshments, including face painting, balloon modelling, tombola and strawberries and cream.

Sunday's fun day will start at midday and the duck race at 3pm. The owner of the winning duck will receive £100, with runners up getting £75, £50 and £25.

Both events raise vital funds for Gargrave Primary School, the playground association and the parish church.

There will also be stalls in the grounds of Neville House to help raise funds for residents’ entertainments and outings.

Tickets for the duck race are on sale at Gargrave Co-op, and discounted garden tickets are available at Twin Locks Garden Centre for £3. On the day, garden tickets will be on sale at £4 in the village hall, where there will also be refreshments from 10am.
