CRAVEN youngsters could turn over a new leaf.

Local libraries are holding a series of events as part of North Yorkshire's summer reading challenge, which has a record breakers theme.

Open to children aged from four to 11, the initiative challenges participants to read six library books of their choice and collect stickers and other rewards.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member for library and information services, said: "The challenge is a great incentive to encourage children to read and use libraries over the summer.

"Last year in North Yorkshire, more than 10,000 children took part."
