RESIDENTS' concerns about speeding motorists has resulted in new traffic calming measures on Gill Lane in Cowling.

Cowling parish councillor Natalie Johnson and clerk Andrew Mallinson recently met with Dennis Cairns from North Yorkshire County Council highways regarding villagers' concerns about speeding traffic on the road through Middleton and Ickornshaw.

After the meeting, new and clearer road markings have been put in outside the school up to the playground and the playground sign has been replaced.

Cowling Parish Council also recently agreed to fund the replacement of the red anti-skid material at the top of Gill Lane in the hopes that it will encourage road users to reduce their speed.

The parish council expressed its thanks to Mr Cairns for the highways agency's prompt action and it hoped the new traffic calming measures would improve the roads in the community.
