BIKING enthusiasts from far and wide made the second annual Girder Fork and Classic Motorcycle Club's event in Skipton a record-breaking success.

Despite some gloomy weather, the event at Skipton Auction Mart saw around 850 bikers turn up on both two and three wheels.

They included belt-driven, pre World War One machines, a S80 Brough Superior, a post World War Two Vincent Comet, and a Triumph Thunderbird.

Also at the event were a selection of modern motorcycles, scooters, Ariel Custom specials, side cars, three-wheelers and a 2015 built Suzuki RG 500 Four Special.

And Bill Tailor rode his 1936 350 Girder Fork/Rigid Norton International Racer all the way from Whitby to Skipton, and safely back again.

Roger Henderson, master of ceremonies, handed over £750 each to club's charities, Sue Ryder Care, Manorlands Hospice and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The money was raised at last year's event and club night raffles during the year.

Results were: best vintage - R Keith, 350 pre war Girder Fork AJS; classic single - joint winners Gordon Pickles, Vincent Comet, and Keith Laverton, Bulsader 350 Racer. classic multi - Darren Archer, Triumph Thunderbird; two stroke - Gary Parker, RG 500 Suzuki Special; modern - J Wrighton, Suzuki GS1000; scooter - David Huxall, Lambretta; custom - Mr Watson, 790 Triumph; three wheeler - Alan Watkinson, Pemberton Guzzi; best in show - Gary Parker, Suzuki RG 500 Special.
