AGAINST the odds, the sun shone for Clapham’s annual street fair on Saturday, making it a great day out for the many visitors.

There was an amazing variety of stalls - not only were there ten from the church but there were 14 from other organisations raising funds for their own good causes.

Once again, the classic cars turned out in all their finery and variety including a vintage red Rolls Royce, a Model T Ford and a Jensen Interceptor.

For music, visitors enjoyed 70s classics from the Juke Box Junkies from Austwick and jazz from the Oak Quintet.

Crook Morris from Kendal attended the street fair for the first time, but making a welcome return was the Cave Rescue Organisation’s climbing wall, which proved very popular. The children’s tent run by Bethel Chapel provided lots of fun and produced many painted faces.

The climax of the day was, as ever, the duck race, with the village hall selling a record number of ducks.
