TWO Airedale-based NHS teams have won awards in an Oscars-style ceremony.

The team behind physical health and wellbeing clinics for people with serious mental illness scooped the Quality Award.

And the Working Together Award went to Ward 24, the specialist dementia assessment unit.

The accolades were among Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust You're a Star awards presented annually to showcase outstanding healthcare across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

This year's venture attracted a record 66 entries across five categories.

Main sponsor Sovereign Healthcare Charitable Trust provided £1,000 to each winner to support their work.

Honours were handed out at a ceremony in Bradford.

The project which earned the Quality Award has attracted major interest nationally and is being put forward as a business model for other trusts.

Kate Dale, the mental/physical health project lead, said: "For the team to win this award means the world, they deserve it. We've achieved far more than we could have hoped for."

Ward 24 manager, Jacquie Edwards, said her team was delighted with the Working Together Award.

"The team works together really well and strives to ensure patient care is of the highest standard," she added.

The ward is currently based at Airedale Hospital but the facility is being moved to Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford, next month.
