FUNDING is on offer to Craven groups interested in developing a community resource.

North Yorkshire County Council is providing grants towards the cost of feasibility studies.

The initiative is part of the authority's Stronger Communities programme.

Executive member County Councillor David Chance said: "This programme has been created to help communities do more for themselves.

"Supporting and working with communities to help them develop their own resources – like libraries, open spaces and former council buildings – is at the very heart of it."

The county council has joined the national Community Management and Ownership of Assets scheme, which means it can access specialist advice for groups interested in taking on resources in their neighbourhoods.
