AN ANNUAL cider day has raised barrel-loads of cash for Manorlands.
Naylor's Brewery at Cross Hills has handed over a cheque for £1,000 – more than twice the amount raised last year.
As part of the event people from across the region took apples to the brewery.
The cider was then created and sold for the cost of bottling and processing, with a 10p-per-bottle donation to Manorlands.
Brewery director Stephen Naylor said: "Due to the success of our cider day we wanted to pass something on to a local charity.
"Over the past few years we have had several friends cared for at Manorlands and have always been astounded by the levels of care shown by everyone there.
"We felt that a small contribution per bottle would add up to a worthwhile donation to help Manorlands keep offering its excellent service and support."
Olivia Moffat, a fundraiser at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, said: "This is a brilliant fundraising idea and we are very grateful to Naylor's Brewery for all its fundraising efforts.
"The money will make a difference to the many people we are currently caring for both in the hospice and in their own homes."
